Several readers sent in screenshots of emails they got from Capital One about benefits that will be removed from their Capital One card on September 1, 2021.
The following cards were reported to me to have gotten these emails;
- Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card
- Capital One Platinum Credit Card
- Journey Student Rewards from Capital One
There may be more Capital One cards that are losing the benefits that I’m not aware of (I reached out to a Capital One spokespersons but I still did not receive a response). What all the cards listed have in common is that they are all no annual fee cards.
Which Capital One benefits are being removed?
As per the email, the following benefits are being removed on September 1, 2021
- Auto Rental Collision Insurence
- Extended Warranty Protection
- Price Protection
- Travel Assistance Service
- Road Assist Service
- Travel Accident Insurance
Conclusion
It has become the new trend of many credit card issuers to remove key benefits from their cards. Capital One did not do much explaining as to why they are removing the benefits but the reason is quite obvious – it’s costing them too much money to be worthwhile, especially on non-annual fee cards.
If you are looking for a new card that does include these benefits then you can find one very easily on the Ultimate Credit Card Finder. Just search the cards based on the benefit you are looking for.
