New Chase Credit Card For Beginners! Freedom Rise

- Jun 11, 2023 Credit Card Info, News0 comments

Update: The card is available online as well at this link. Hat tip DOC

Here at HelpMeBuildCredit, we’re always encouraging you to start building your credit asap, as soon as you finish the last crumbs of your 18th birthday cake.

There’s good news and it’s a new Chase card that’ll be great for beginners to use to start up their credit.

As of today, June 11, 2023, the Chase Freedom® Student credit card will convert to the all-new Chase Freedom Rise card.

Here are some details.

A bit about the card

The Chase Freedom Rise card is a beginners card, good for those looking to start building credit. It will replace the Chase Freedom® Student as mentioned above, but will be available to non-students, just as well as for students.

The card has a welcome offer in which you can earn a $25 statement credit if you sign up for auto-pay within the first 3 months. Plus, the card has no annual fee.

In terms of rewards, the card earns 1.5% cashback on all purchases. The rewards you earn on the card are Chase Ultimate Reward points.

Application tips

You do not need credit in order to apply for the Chase Freedom Rise card. It is a card for those new to credit, so it should be easy to get approved.

However, based on a memo that was sent to Chase bankers, it seems that having a Chase checking account with a balance of $250 or more may increase your chances of getting approved for the Freedom Rise card. It is not required to have a checking account, nor a guarantee for approval, but recommended. The account must be opened before you apply for the card, though you can deposit the $250 or more within 48 hours of applying for the card.

If you have an existing Chase checking account, then make sure to have at least $250 in the account within 48 hours of applying for the Freedom Rise card.

The Freedom Student card to be discontinued

As of today, the Chase Freedom® Student credit card will be discontinued and no longer available for new applicants. Current cardholders may keep their card ownership and do not have to transfer to the Chase Freedom Rise card.

How do I get my Chase Freedom Rise card?

The card is available as of today, June 11 in Chase branches. It does not seem to be available yet online. We will add the card to our website once it’s available online.

What we say

It seems the Chase Freedom Rise card will make a nice addition to the new-to-credit cards (you can check out some more starter cards here). It’s always good to have a card that is easy to get approved for with no previous credit. And here you get to earn 1.5% cashback on all purchases, which will add to your Ultimate Rewards points.

If you’re looking to build up your credit from scratch, the Chase Freedom Rise card is a new great choice.
