Why it matters
Here are a couple of reasons why it matters if the card does or does not report on your personal credit report.
1. It will affect your credit utilization
Any balance on a credit card that is on your credit report gets counted as part of your credit utilization. The good part of many business cards is that you don’t need to worry about having a high balance on the card because the business cards usually don’t get reported to your personal credit. They therefore don’t count towards your credit utilization.
However, the Capital One business cards that do get reported, on those you will have to be careful to keep credit utilization to a minimum. Otherwise, it’ll have a negative impact to your score if your card balance is through the roof.
2. Count as part of Chase 5/24
The Chase 5/24 rule counts only all the credit cards that are on your credit report. Usually, business cards don’t get included because they mostly don’t report to your personal credit.
It you have one of the Capital One business cards that do report, then they will count towards 5/24 and take up a slot.
You may not be eligible to apply for a Chase card if your 5 card slots are full.
