Visa announced new features coming to Visa cards that will completely revolutionize Visa credit cards. The changes can come as quickly as this year, so check them out.
All Visa cards in one
Visa plans to enable you to walk around with one credit card that will be connected to all your Visa cards. You will be able to pre-register which Visa card should be billed based on different transaction categories and amounts. For example, you will be able to set “gas” purchases to get charged to one card, while “groceries” to another. Based on the press release it sounds like at first, this feature will only be available to Visa debit cards but it will hopefully be coming to credit cards as well.
No more printed credit card numbers
Visa is planning to remove printed credit card numbers from physical credit cards. Once this change is live, physical credit cards will only be used to swipe or tap. If you need your credit card number for online shopping you will be able to generate single use credit card numbers online.
Tab your phone
When shopping on your smartphone device you will be able to tab your Visa card to your phone and check out without needing to manually enter your card numbers. This will make shopping online as quick an experience as tapping your credit card during checkout in-store.
Conclusion
All these changes sound exciting. Visa claims they will go live by the end of the year but I predict it will take time from when it’s live until banks start implementing these changes.
