Your mortgage is expensive. I’m not saying this because I know you, I’m saying it because I don’t know you. But finally, with Mesa, you can earn rewards on this huge, monthly expense.
In this post, we will discuss the Mesa Homeowners Visa® Signature Preferred Credit Card, how it works, and some other cool credits that come along with the card.
What's the Mesa Homeowners card
Mesa won the race to be the first card that offers rewards on mortgage payments. Similar to the card_name, which introduced rewards on rent payments, the Mesa Homeowners Visa® Signature Preferred Credit Card earns rewards on mortgage payments.
You can earn up to 100,000 points per year on your mortgage payments.
Mesa Homeowners card rewards
The Mesa Homeowners Visa® Signature Preferred Credit Card earns the following rewards:
1 point on your mortgage payment (up to 100,000 points per year) as long as you spend $1,000 a month on your Mesa card (more on this soon)
2 points on gas, groceries, and EV charging
3 points on home categories including Lowe’s, utilities, daycare, furniture, taxes, HOA, lawn care, maintenance, and much more
And 1 point on all other eligible purchases.
How to earn rewards on your mortgage payment
During the application, Mesa will ask you how much your monthly mortgage payment is. The amount you state is the amount of points you will earn monthly (1 point per $1). You do not need to pay your mortgage with the Mesa Homeowners Visa® Signature Preferred Credit Card. You can continue to pay your mortgage just like you did till now. But the difference is that now Mesa rewards you for that.
You earn up to 100,000 points per year on mortgage payments if you spend $1,000 with your card during the same statement cycle as your mortgage payment.
How does Mesa verify your mortgage payment?
I asked Mesa what verification the applicant needs to provide to prove the monthly mortgage amount. They told me that they usually just take the number stated as is. Randomly, they can ask the applicant for a mortgage statement proving it. That sounds pretty straightforward.
The Mesa card annual fee
The Mesa Homeowners Visa® Signature Preferred Credit Card does not have an annual fee. It’s completely free.
The crazy amount of great credits that come along with the Mesa card
Being that the Mesa Homeowners Visa® Signature Preferred Credit Card is free, I was very surprised by the amount of credits that come along with the card. Some of them are very useful.
Here is the list.
- Get up to $120 in statement credits per cardholder year at Lowe’s. Max $30 per quarter. (Hello? Free $30 at Lowe’s 4 times a year!)
- Get $25 off each job, up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year, for Thumbtack (Free cleaning help or other handyman work!)
- Get up to $100 in statement credits on your first home warranty claim with Armadillo Home Warranty
- Get up to a $120 annual credit per calendar year at Wag! (Pet care)
- Get up to a $100 Cozy Earth Gift Card when you activate your card (Bed, linen, and clothing)
- Get a $120 annual credit per calendar year at The Farmer’s Dog (Dog food)
- Get up to $65 in statement credits per calendar year as a Big Box membership credit (Costco, BJ’s, etc.)
Get rewarded when getting approved for a mortgage or refinance
Another great concept by Mesa is that they reward you when you get approved for a mortgage or refinance. You get one point per dollar of your loan amount. For example, if your mortgage is $500,000, you will get 500,000 Mesa points!!
To get the rewards, you need to use one of the lenders within the Mesa marketplace. Of course, this is only exciting if Mesa can offer the same rate on the mortgage that you can get somewhere else. Otherwise, the points are not worth it. But if the rate is the same, then this is a great way to earn a couple of thousand dollars while shopping for a mortgage.
How much are Mesa rewards worth?
Now, let’s answer the final question you are probably wondering about.
