Major Changes and Additions To Marriott Cards! Plus New Welcome Offers!

- Sep 22, 2022 Credit Card Info0 comments

Marriott revamped their card portfolio!

They made some upgrades to the existing Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card, and released two completely new cards, the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™, from Chase card.

Here’s the breakdown of the changes to the Amex Brilliant card and the details of the two new Marriott cards.

The upgraded Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card

Marriott is upgrading the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card to an ultra-premium card. This entails some changes to the benefits, and a whopping increase to the annual fee.

Here are the changes.

New welcome offer

With the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card, you will now earn 150,000 points after spending $5,000 within the first 3 months.

Higher annual fee

The fee will jump from $450 to a whopping $650. Currently, only new applicants for the card have to pay the higher $650 fee.

If you’re an existing cardholder and your card renews in 2022, you will still be charged the lower $450 fee (but you will still get the new benefits).

If your card renews in 2023, you will already be charged the higher fee of $650.

So yes, that’s a $200 jump but here are the benefit changes to combat the high annual fee!

New! Platinum Elite status

The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card already had Gold Elite status,  now they upgraded it to Platinum Elite status!

So instead of sweating to get 50 nights annually at Marriott hotels, get Platinum Elite status complimentary with your Brilliant Card

Platinum status includes free upgrades , free breakfast, free access to hotel lounges, and more.

Increased point value for your annual night!

The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card now offers an annual night, worth 85,000 points per night! That’s instead of the previous 50,000 point value limit.

And you have the option of topping it off with an additional 15,000 points for rooms, as was previously available with the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card.

More elite night credits

Up until now, you got 15 Elite night credits per calendar year.

Now, you can get 25 Elite night credits per calendar year to make it easier for you to reach higher Elite status!

New $25 restaurant credit

The $300 Marriott credit has changed into a $25 monthly credit for restaurants. It’s the same $300 but now it’s way more useful.

The credit includes purchases at restaurants worldwide, including takeout and delivery.

New earned choice benefit

If you spend $60K annually on your card, you can select an earned choice benefit. You can choose one of the following:

  • A second 85K free night award
  • 5 suite night upgrades,
  • $750 off a Marriott mattress or box spring (from Marriott Bonvoy Boutiques)

This benefit is starting in 2023.

Details of the two new Marriott cards!

Let’s get to know them by name!

Amex released one card, the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card, and Chase released the second card, the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card.

Here are some details about the new cards.

With the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card, you will earn 125,000 points after spending $4,000 within the first 3 months.

  • 2 points on all other purchases

Upgraded status

With both cards, you will get a complimentary upgrade to Gold Elite status.

In addition, you will get 15 Elite night credits per calendar year to make it easier for you to reach higher Elite status.

Points for hotel stays

You will earn 1,000 points for every night you stay at a Marriott hotel. The night must be paid for with one of your new Marriott cards.

Annual night, but you have to work for it

With both cards, if you spend $15,000, you will earn an annual free night at a Marriott hotel, up to 50,000 points per night.

Just like the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card, you will be able to top it off with 15,000 points for rooms, for a total of 65,000 points for the night.
