Here are the details of what credit score is needed in order to be eligible.

What credit score do I need?

Most approvals we’re seeing are for applicants who have a 700+ credit score. There are also many data points of approvals for applicants with scores lower than 700. It seems that Citi is currently being pretty lenient with approvals.

How much credit history do I need?

It is preferable to have at least one year of credit history but we are also seeing some approvals starting at approximately 8 months of credit history.

Are authorized users enough to get approved?

Citi sometimes approves with credit built from authorized users only, if they are really good authorized users, even if you don’t have any of your own credit cards. Just make sure the authorized users have a minimum of one year credit history. YMMV.

Which credit bureau will CitI pull?

If you live in Brooklyn then Citi will usually pull Equifax. In other places, including upstate NY, Citi usually pulls Experian.

Other factors that Citi will look at

Recently, some people are getting declined if they haven’t been using their existing credit cards often or if they have many open accounts on their credit report.

Also, in general, Citi doesn’t approve if they find one or more credit inquiries within the last few days, or two or more credit inquiries on your credit report within the last 6 months.

What credit limits are people getting approved for?

Based on results submitted in our database the average credit limit approved within the last 30 days is $4,750.
