When I saw in the news that JetBlue launched a premium credit card, I got excited at first.
But after checking out the card in detail, I am convinced that the CEO released the card because he saw in the news that egg prices are $10 a dozen. He must’ve been like “If people are paying $10 for eggs, why not release a credit card and charge $499?”!! The JetBlue Premier Card charges a $499 annual fee plus a $150 fee for each authorized user, but offers close to zero value.
Here are the details.
JetBlue Premier Card rewards
Here are the rewards you earn on the JetBlue Premier Card:
- 6 points per $1 spent on eligible JetBlue and Paisly purchases, including JetBlue Vacations
- 2 points per $1 spent at restaurants and eligible grocery stores
- 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases
The JetBlue Premier Card $499 card offers the exact same rewards as the JetBlue Plus $99 card (the CEO just did copy-paste as he was in a rush to release the card while the egg prices is still in the news).
JetBlue Premier Card benefits
Here is the list of benefits that come along with the card in exchange for the $499 fee you pay.
- JetBlue lounge access: The cardmember and one guest get access to JetBlue’s lounges which are not yet even open but are officially coming in late 2025 to JFK (Terminal 5) and Boston Logan International Airport (Terminal C)
- Priority Pass lounge access: The card comes along with access to priority pass lounges for you and one guest (The CEO did a quick Google search on “must have benefits for premium cards”. Thanks but no thanks)
- Paisly statement credits: You get up to $300 in annual statement credits for Paisly travel purchases. But here is the silly breakdown. You earn a $50 credit for each purchase of $250 or more up to six times a year (rather give me a discount on eggs)
- Global Entry & TSA PreCheck: You get a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit of up to $120 every four years (another benefit that came up on the Google search for must-have benefits)
- In-flight discounts: You get 50% back on food and drink purchases aboard JetBlue flights (this is copy paste from the JetBlue Plus $99 card and “no”, they don’t sell eggs aboard)
- Group A boarding: Cardmembers and up to four travel companions get Group A boarding (at a $499 cost? I’d rather just fly business, thanks)
- First checked bag free: The primary cardholder and up to three companions receive one free checked bag on JetBlue flights (copy-paste from JetBlue Plus $99 card)
- Anniversary bonus: You receive a 5,000 bonus points anniversary bonus (copy-paste from JetBlue Plus $99 card)
- Points redemption bonus: You get 10% of your points back when booking a JetBlue award flight (copy-paste from JetBlue Plus $99 card)
- No foreign transaction fees (copy-paste from JetBlue Plus $99 card)
The welcome bonus on the JetBlue Premier Card
The card comes along with a 70,000 JetBlue bonus points welcome bonus after spending $5,000 within the first 3 months. Plus, you get 5 tiles toward Mosaic qualification (you need 50 tiles to reach Mosaic 1…).
