You may have been wondering, as many of our readers have, about some of our emails looking just a bit weird.
For example, a card that is being spoken about without having its name mentioned.
No, we’re not weird and no, those parts are not the editor’s mistake.
We have a reason for it beyond our control, and here is what it is!
Affiliated links
We feature over 200 credit cards on our website. Of the 200, some cards have affiliated links and some have unaffiliated links.
However, we’re proud to be one of very few who will always feature the link with the best offer available on the card, whether it means keeping the affiliate link or changing it to a non-affiliate link.
Affiliate rules
Some of the affiliate card issuers have certain rules which we must follow in order to remain part of the program. Most rules are understandable, such as including the full credit card name in its first mention on a page, putting the time and date of an expiring offer, writing that terms apply after a welcome offer, etc.
But then there are some other rules…
But then there are some other rules by a certain affiliated card issuer that have us producing interesting looking emails that get you wondering what exactly is going on.
As one of their rules, we are not allowed to mention any of their credit cards in any of our emails or social media posts. Nor are we allowed to mention their products, name of the credit card issuer, or post images containing their products, etc.
So we abide by the rules, but they can’t stop us from keeping you updated on a latest best offer, or an update on one of the cards. So we write to you about all important and exciting updates happening throughout all our credit cards.
When it comes to this particular issuer, we make sure to present the updates without mentioning the products actual names.
You can always check out the website for the full post including all names and details.
So there’s the behind the scenes of any email that may have gotten you confused.
Thanks for understanding!
