Many people are confused if the Chase Ink Cash and Ink Unlimited cards earn points or cashback. On our website we state that they earn points but if you go on Chase’s website they state that it earns cashback. So which one is accurate?
The answer is that the cards earn regular Chase Ultimate Reward points just like any other Chase branded card. But the only way to redeem the points is via cashback (a penny per point).
However, this is only true if you only have an Ink Cash or Ink Unlimited card. If you also have other Chase cards then you can redeem the points in many other ways as well, including transferring them to airline and hotel programs. Here are the details.
Transfer to airline and hotel programs
If you also have the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve, or the Ink Preferred Card, then you can transfer your points to one of these cards and then transfer your points to any of the following Chase Travel Partners.

You can also transfer your points to someone else's account
It’s important to note that even if you do not have a better Chase card you can transfer your points to your spouse’s, friend’s, etc. accounts as well.
Chase only allows transferring points to someone else’s account if the person is linked to your account. The person is only eligible to be linked to your account if both you and the second party do not have anyone else linked to their account. So before you attempt to transfer your Chase points to someone else’s account you need to make sure that both you and the person you’re transferring the points to do not have anyone else linked to their account. If any of you already have someone linked then you need to first contact Chase to delink the current person and only then will Chase allow you to link a new person.
Recently, there have been issues transferring points to someone else’s account online. In many cases, this can only be done by phone by speaking to the Chase Ultimate Rewards department.
