Credit Cards Designed For Truckers – Can Be Restricted To Be Used Only For Gas

- May 15, 2022 Credit Card Info2 comments

Is there an option of a credit card that you can give to your truckers and control that they use it only for gas? Thankfully there is.

I recently spoke to a business owner who told me he lost over $40,000 over the years from his truckers using the company credit card to buy personal stuff without the company’s consent. Giving a truck driver a credit card with no restrictions can be very risky.

In this post, we’ll discuss some options of credit cards designed for fleets that have built in features to help you control spend and deny access to drivers so that they use the card for nothing but gas.

Atob

Atob is a card designed for fleets and includes restrictions that you can set to allow only fuel purchases on the card. You can set limits per day, per week, per month, or even per transaction.  You can also set different limits for different employees. You can choose to also allow other truck maintenance purchases including repairs, towing services, tolls, business insurance, and more. The card can integrate with many popular accounting softwares, including QuickBooks.

Pros

  • No fees
  • Comprehensive purchase control settings
  • Get unlimited 5 cents back per gallon!
  • No credit needed
  • Pay your bill with a debit card
  • Calculates the trucker’s hours and payroll

Cons

  • You only get 7 days to pay the bill

Wex Fleet card

The Wex Fleet card will help you curb unauthorized charges or credit card misuse. You can monitor employee spending’s in real time and view detailed reports, set spending limits per driver or even based on time of day, and control which products the drivers can buy.

Pros

  • No fees
  • Comprehensive purchase control settings
  • Get access to great fuel management tools to reduce spending
  • Track vehicles and monitor fuel use at anytime

Universal Premium Fleet Card

The Universal Premium Fleet card offers similar controls to the other cards mentioned but the big con is that they charge a monthly fee of $3.99 – $11.99, depending on the membership level you choose.

Pros

  • Comprehensive purchase control settings
  • Save up to 6¢ per gallon on fuel (based on volume and participating merchants)

Cons

  • Fee of $3.99 – $11.99, depending on the membership level

Fill up in your lot

It’s also good to know that there are subscription services such as deizx that will come to you and fill up your trucks in your own lot every night. This will help eliminate fraud and save your drivers time on the road.
