Everyone’s favorite cards just got even better! Chase is going all out to make the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve cards a no brainer.
The new changes are filling in for everything that the cards were missing; better rewards and a hotel credit on the Chase Sapphire Preferred.
Here are the details.
Changes to the Chase Sapphire Preferred
Rewards:
Chase has added more categories to earn a whole lot of extra rewards.
- 5 points on travel booked through Chase travel
- 3 points on dining, streaming services, and online grocery excluding Target, Walmart, and wholesale clubs
- 2 points on all other travel
- 1 point on all other purchases
Benefits:
Here are some awesome new credits and benefits!
- Get a $50 annual hotel credit each cardmember year. The hotel booking must be made through the Chase Travel Portal. (Existing Chase cardholders will get the $50 credit on their upcoming anniversary year.)
- Get 10% anniversary bonus points when you renew your card. Chase confirmed to us that the 10% will not be based on points you earn, only on what you spend.
For example: If you earned 130,000 points within a cardmember year through the following breakdown:
– 100,000 points through a welcome bonus
– 5,000 points through spending $1,000 for Chase travel
– 9,000 points through spending $3,000 on online groceries
-16,000 points through spending $16,000 on all other purchases
Total amount you spent = $20,000
Total amount of points earned = 138,000
Total amount of anniversary bonus points you will earn = 2,000 points (not 13,800)
Changes to the Chase Sapphire Reserve
- 10 points on Chase dining, hotels and car rentals booked through the Chase Travel Portal.
- 5 points on airline tickets booked through the Chase Travel Portal
- 3 points on all other dining and travel
- 1 point on all other purchases
