Citi rebranded the Citi Premier card to the card_name. The annual fee stayed the same but there are some slight changes to the rewards. The benefits were also upgraded, and along with the rebrand came an exciting welcome offer. Let’s discuss it.

Hotel credit: Get a $100 credit when you book a single hotel stay of $500 or more, excluding taxes and fees, through thankyou.com, once per calendar year

Extended warranty protection: Get two additional years to your original manufacturer’s warranty time. (Will only cover if the original warranty is for 5 years or less). Max $10,000 per item

Purchase protection: Get refunded if your purchase is damaged or stolen, up to 90 days from the date of purchase. Max $10,000 per claim, $50,000 per year

New! Auto rental insurance: Primary coverage on rentals outside your country of residence and secondary coverage on rentals within your country of residence.

New! Lost luggage insurance: Get up to $3,000 per trip ($2,000 for N.Y. residents) for lost or damaged luggage.

New! Trip cancellation insurance: Coverage for canceled or interrupted travel due to an unforeseen medical emergency etc. Max $5,000 per trip, $10,000 per person per 12 months for non-refundable travel expenses including flight tickets, hotels, and more.

New! Trip delay insurance: If your flight is delayed you can claim up to $500 per trip to cover expenses like meals, lodging, toiletries, medication, and other personal use items. Max 2 claims per account per 12 consecutive months.

Welcome offer eligibility

When a new card is released, people get excited since usually, that means that you can get the bonus again even if you already got it in the past on the old card. But unfortunately, here this is not the case. The terms on the new card_name states that if you received a new cardmember bonus on either the card_name or the Citi Premier within the past 48 months then you are not eligible for a new bonus.
