Home improvement rewards: Earn 5 points on purchases in your top eligible category each billing cycle, on up to the first $500 spent per billing cycle, then 1 point. Eligible categories are restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, select travel, select transit, select streaming services, drugstores, home improvement stores, fitness clubs, and live entertainment

2. Bank Of America Customized Cash Rewards Credit Card

Annual fee: $0

Home improvement rewards: Earn 3% cashback on purchases in one of the following categories of your choice, on up to $2,500 spent per quarter in combined purchases, then 1%. Eligible categories are gas, online shopping, dining, travel, drug stores, or home improvement/furnishings

3. Bank Of America Customized Cash Rewards Secured Card

Annual fee: $0

If you will be purchasing home improvement equipment for more than the spending/rewards limit on the card, you can instead use the Capital One Spark Cash Plus Business card for your purchases, which earns 2% cashback on all purchases, unlimited, or any other 2% cashback card.

Best credit cards for construction material

The only card that will give you extra rewards for the construction category is the Amex Platinum Business card.

Earn 1.5 points on credit card swipes totaling $5,000 or more and for swipes at construction material, hardware suppliers, electronic goods retailers, software and cloud system providers, and shipping providers.

Since the card only earns 1.5 points on construction, you’re better off using the Capital One Spark Plus card for 2% cashback on all purchases or any other 2% cashback card for your construction expenses (unless you value Amex points a lot and the Amex 1.5 points gives you more value than the 2 points at Capital One).
